First, I'd like to take a moment to thank Steve and the Bravenet folks for a lovely place to house my journal. I've discovered a great community and I've made some great friends here. I was realy surprised and honored to have won JOTW. It's been fun customizing my journal and hope I've made it a pleasant place for folks to visit. J
Work has been going well, I think. The 15th through the 17th I'm in New Hire training. We're on break right now, so I'm taking a minute to work on a journal entry.
Hurricane update... still watching Ivan, but it looks like my little area will be spared for the most part. I'm very relieved for the central and southern part of the state. Now we watch and see what Jeanne will do. I just cannot believe how active the season has been, but they say when we have a mild winter in the south (and we really did this year) we'll have an active storm season. How true that myth is. Hmm....guess it's not a myth then, huh?
After reading about the QuickPad on Sheila's journal, I checked into one and thought it was a really cool idea. At first, I thought it was just for school situations, etc, but for anyone who likes to write, it's a fantastic idea if you get tired of writing things out longhand when you're away from your computer and then transcribing the notes later. This little gadget is going to be a real time saver for me. Now I can write on breaks/lunch when I'm alone, or while watching the obligatory show or game on TV with hubby. Or late at night when I don't feel like sitting at my computer desk.
Okay...wheeeee! It's lunch break now, and I'm sitting in the cafeteria eating a small bowl of cottage cheese and pineapple. Yummy!
Speaking of that...funny how your tastes changes as you get older. You couldn't have paid me to eat this stuff when I was younger. LOL. Now, I love it. Same with asparagus. I'm sure there are other things, but they escape me at the moment. One thing you'll never get to me eat is liver.
Had a bad experience with that nasty little entre. I've always had anemia as far back as I can remember. It's not bad, and usually a one-a-day vitamin and foods high in iron will keep it under control. When I was a small kid (I'm talking five years old) the doctor told my parents to feed me steak as rare as I could stand it, and plenty of liver and red beets. Now, the rare meat and red beets were never a problem. Not so with the liver.
I remember the one and only time I attempted liver. I was that five year old, running around my Nanny's (grandmother) house with my little red plastic drinking cup. It was my favorite. I was running around because Mom was chasing me with a forkful of liver. It smelled nasty (with a capital N)and I didn't want anything to do with it. Mom finally cornered me and told me if I took just one bite, I could have as much corn beef and cabbage my Nanny had made as I wanted (still love that stuff to this day). I gave in and took that crap into my mouth. Because Mom was watching, I couldn't just spit it out. I chewed for what seemed like hours...couldn't quite get myself to swallow the abhorrent stuff. When I finally did, my stomach was not happy about it. I promptly brought it back up and puked into my favorite little red cup. Suffice to say, I never used that cup again, and Mom never tried to get me to eat liver again! LOL. A child's use of persuasion is unique.
This ramble is heading in a direction I hadn't imagined when I sat down to write this entry. LOL. My apologies if I offended anyone. I better cut this off before I make it worse.
Cheers, my friends!
